New species of flying reptile discovered
Paleontologists in China have unearthed fossils of two new species of flying reptiles that lived more than 120 million years ago, during the dinosaur era. The species, known as pterosaurs, belong to groups previously found only in Europe.
Scientists made the discovery in a region known for the diversity of its fossil specimens dating from the Cretaceous period, which lasted from 144 million to 65 million years ago.
"This research shows a much higher diversity in pterosaur groups than one could possibly expect," said Alexander Kellner, a paleontologist at the Museu Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Kellner led the study, which has just been published in the journal Nature.
Meanwhile, another Paleontologist, David Martill, has suggested that these giant reptiles could have been twice the size originally thought.
Dr. Martill says his research on pterosaurs wings appear to solve the problem of how such enormous creatures were able to take to the air and remain airborn. He says he has confirmed the wing was locked into the bottom of the body rather than the top, providing a larger surface area to take advantage thermal air currents.
The paleontologist, from the University of Portsmouth, says the wing structure is more like a bat, with hollow bones and a small body.
Martill and academic collaborator Dr Eberhard Frey recently found fossilized footprints in Mexico pointing to a creature with a wingspan in excess of 60-feet.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's..... Serbiaman!
The police in Serbia are investigating reports of a real-life Superman after hundreds of people claimed to have seen a caped figure flying over their houses.
Residents in the town of Ljubovija described seeing a cloaked person flying above buildings "as if he had an invisible engine on his back" and changing directions in mid-air, local daily Blic reported.
One eye-witness said: "It was like something out of Superman or Batman. No one has any rational explanation for what we all saw."
Police are investigating the mysterious sightings.

Canadian Politician Says UFOs Are Real
Former Canadian Minister of Defense Paul Hellyer will give a speech at the University of Toronto (Convocation Hall, Sept 25) on "Why Information Concerning Extraterrestrial-Related Phenomena And Government Involvement With These Issues Is Still Being Withheld From The Public By Specific Western Nations."
Paul Hellyer has had a long and distinguished career with particular emphasis on national defense. He held a number of positions culminating in his appointment as Minister of Defense under Lester Pearson, and possesses a unique vantage point from which to share his insights and knowledge with on matters relating to the UFO/ET disclosure question. He is a long standing opponent of the weaponization of space and is a supporter of the Space Preservation Treaty.
