Before you make an appointment to have a reading...
... please read the following advice.
1. Never visit a consultant without first making an appointment, either in writing or by telephone. Also ask whether he or she is a member of any well-known society or organization that you might have heard of - such as the British Astrological & Psychic Society - that you can check up on. It only takes a quick phone call or an email to find out whether a reader is who and what they say they are.
2. Always ask the reader for full details of his or her fees before confirming your appointment.
3. Make sure he or she is offering the type of reading you want. Some clairvoyants offer predictive readings; others specialize in counselling and problem-solving. Still others offer personality assessment, past lives readings, life-direction or career guidance - and so on. Find this out before you confirm your appointment.
4. Take notes. Bring a notebook with you and write down what the reader tells you. If you would like to tape-record your session, ask the reader (when you are making your appointment) whether this would be okay. Most readers don't mind tape-recorders - in fact many provide tape-recordings of all the readings they give - while others find them distracting.
5. If you don't understand what the reader is telling you, don't be afraid to say so. And ask questions if you are not clear about what is being said.
6. Never visit a consultant on your own - especially one you have never visited previously. Always take a friend along with you.
7. If a reader tells you there is a "hex" or "curse" on you and offers to remove it for a fee, get up and leave straightway. Then contact us.
How much should you expect to pay for a reading?
This varies enormously, depending on a range of factors, including the type of reading you are having, the experience and reputation of the reader and so on. As with other professional services, you tend to get what you pay for. Most established readers charge somewhere between £25 - £50 for a 1-hour reading. Astrologers generally charge higher fees because of the amount of time and work involved in drawing up a chart. Location is also a factor, with rural-based readers usually charging less than readers located in major cities. The rent on a consulting room in Mayfair is obviously going to be considerably higher than the rent on a room in a village in Northumberland. Finally, a private consultation with a famous psychic or astrologer can cost anything from a few hundred to several thousand pounds. Again, you should always make sure to ask the consultant for details of his or her fees when you are arranging your appointment.
